Sodium Bicarbonate
We believe that SALUDVIVA's Food Grade, Aluminum Free Baking Soda is one of the best on the market!
Much of the baking soda available is a man-made, not natural, product.
Commercial brands of baking soda are synthetic, made through a chemical process in which carbon dioxide and ammonia are passed into a concentrated chloride solution. Raw sodium bicarbonate is precipitated and heated to form sodium carbonate, which is then treated and refined to form sodium bicarbonate. Although this method of producing baking soda is widely used, it is also problematic because the chemicals used in the process are polluting.
Organic Baking Soda is Super Natural , harvested from a deep, underground mineral deposit of naturally occurring Sodium Carbonate and Baking Soda. The mixture is brought to the surface where a simple filtration, refining and curing process produces a Premium food (Aluminum <1ppm, not detected)
It's just pure bicarbonate, in its natural state.
One of the most powerful and effective alkalizing agents for the human body is sodium bicarbonate. Excessive acidity, which can become a dangerous condition that weakens all of the body's systems, is very common today. It results in an internal environment conducive to disease, as opposed to a balanced pH, which allows for normal body functions, which is necessary for the body to resist disease. A healthy body maintains sufficient alkaline reserves to meet emergency demands. When excess acids must be neutralized, our alkaline reserves are depleted leaving the body in a weakened state.
Many experts believe that alkalizing the body is the single most important thing you can do for your health! Most alkalizing protocols are not ideal. They can be expensive and end up only alkalizing the gut and extracellular matrix. Digestion must be acidic to digest food, so what it is all about is stimulating hydrochloric acid in the gut to aid digestion, while stimulating mitochondria and alkalization inside the cell.
The Many Health Uses of Baking Soda
- Oral Care : Baking soda's mildly abrasive qualities, along with its disinfectant quality make it an excellent toothpaste. A paste of baking soda with sea salt and water can be used as a toothpaste, to keep teeth clean and white. To freshen breath, consider adding a few drops of peppermint oil to the baking soda and salt; mix and store in a container. Mix one part salt to two parts baking soda. Pour a small amount of the baking soda mixture into the palm of your hand, wet your toothbrush and press it into the powder to make a paste and brush as usual. Soaking oral appliances in a solution of two teaspoons in a glass of warm water will loosen food debris and eliminate odors.
- Teeth whitening : Mash a ripe strawberry and mix it with half a teaspoon of baking soda. Spread and leave for 5 minutes. Then brush and rinse (apply for a maximum of 7 days).
- Deodorant : You can mix a pinch of baking soda with water, or even better with aloe vera gel, to get great results.
- Foot Bath : Baking soda can also be used to soak your feet to soften calluses and rough skin. Add it to a bath to help neutralize acids in the skin and remove excess oil.
- Hand Wash : Combine three parts baking soda with one part liquid soap to create a hand wash. This will remove tough dirt without irritating your skin, leaving it soft and silky.
- Skin Scrub : A simple paste of Baking Soda and water can be gently rubbed onto the skin in a circular motion as an exfoliant. The fine crystals in the baking soda will remove dead skin cells and leave the skin feeling soft and clean, leaving it silky smooth. This treatment can be used on the body as well as a facial scrub and is gentle enough to use weekly if desired.
- Detox bath : Baking soda and apple cider make a wonderful mixture for taking a bath to eliminate pain and help detoxify through the skin.
- Sunburn : Prepare a bath with warm water and dilute half a cup of baking soda, then soak in it for a natural relief. When you get out, let your skin air dry to keep the baking soda on your skin for longer. You can also apply cold water and baking soda compresses.
- For Itching, Hives, Bites and Stings : Apply a paste of Baking Soda mixed with water to relieve pain and itching. You can also rub it directly on the skin, which can provide relief in case of itchy rashes.
- Splinter Removal : Dilute 1 tablespoon in a small glass of water and soak the affected area twice a day. As a general rule, the splinter will come out in a couple of days.
- For Body or Foot Odor : Baking soda can neutralize the bacteria that cause foot and body odor. A paste of the compound with water can help relieve athlete's foot.
- For heartburn : Heartburn is caused when digestive acids reach the digestive tract. A teaspoon of baking soda along with a few drops of lemon juice acts as an antacid and provides instant relief. The same works to dispel painful gases in case of indigestion and flatulence.
- Alkalizing the body : It is highly advisable to take half a teaspoon diluted in a glass of water on an empty stomach.
- Sport : Many athletes use it before exercise because it seems to work in a similar way to loading carbohydrates. Dilute half a teaspoon in water and take before physical effort.
- For household cleaning : 4 tablespoons of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of vinegar in a quart of water makes an eco-friendly, non-toxic all-purpose cleaner for the home.
- For diaper rash in babies : Organic Baking Soda added to a baby's bath soothes irritated skin and promotes faster healing.
